Seeking Protection in the Borderlands: In Limbo on Both Sides of the Rio Grande

The Texas borderlands are punctuated by the Rio Grande river to the south and immigration checkpoints to the north. This project examines what happens in those spaces: for those seeking asylum in the United States at ports of entry over the Rio Grande, for those who are smuggled north, past the river, up the highway into the interior, and for those already in south Texas, living undocumented south of Border Patrol checkpoints in fear of deportation.
