One year after Russia seized Crimea and started an armed insurgency in eastern Ukraine, the U.S. and its allies opened Yavoriv Combat Training Center to mentor Ukrainian military members. Much of the $1.5 billion in American security assistance to Ukraine since 2014 has been spent at that training center near Ukraine's border with Poland.

The United States accounts for almost all of the foreign military assistance in Ukraine's war with Russia, a conflict that has cost 13,000 lives since 2014.

U.S. military aid to Ukraine is the linchpin of the impeachment of President Donald Trump who is accused of withholding $391 million in return for pressuring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy into announcing an investigation into Hunter Biden's affiliation with a Ukrainian natural gas company.

How are many of those dollars being spent by Wisconsin National Guard soldiers working to train Ukraine's army to be better fighters?
