Melissa Turley

REPORTING FELLOW

Melissa Turley reported from South Africa as the 2012 Pulitzer Center Campus Consortium International Reporting Student Fellow from The George Washington University (Washington, DC). Melissa worked as a member of Secretary Hillary Clinton's Strategic Communications team at the Department of State while in college and now works as a member of the State Department's Strategic Planning Office.

Prior to graduation, Melissa was features editor of The GW Hatchet, the student-run campus newspaper. Additionally, Melissa has worked for a DC-based documentary film group and as a production assistant for a policy think tank. Her short film, Microbreweries, Maximum Sustainability, was accepted into the 2012 Environmental Film Festival in Washington, DC.

In addition to reporting from South Africa, Melissa previously filmed and produced a documentary while studying abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina on the city's environmental issues.
