Kayla Hui

REPORTING FELLOW

Kayla Hui (she/her) graduated from Boston University's School of Public Health with a Master's degree in Health Communication and Promotion and Maternal and Child Health. Kayla has specialized in public health and social justice issues, covering scavengers' rights in rural villages in Thailand to lactation practices among Indigenous women in coastal Guatemala. Prior to attending Boston University, Kayla received her Bachelor of Arts in Global Health and Gender and Women Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2018.

As an aspiring photojournalist, Kayla is passionate about amplifying underreported health narratives by bridging the gap between public health data and storytelling. She was named the 2020 Slants Foundation Scholarship recipient for her multimedia work in the Asian American community.
