Carlos Avila Gonzalez

Carlos Avila Gonzalez joined The San Francisco Chronicle in 1997 and has become a leader in the photography departments shift to multimedia reporting. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area and 1995 graduate of San Francisco State University, Gonzalez began his career near Californias Central Valley at newspapers covering diverse communities. Gonzalez has traveled to Afghanistan, Cuba, Iraq Central America and Mexico numerous times for The Chronicle, and he is a volunteer teacher at a National Geographic Photo Camp For Kids.
