K-12 EDUCATION PROGRAM ASSISTANT
Maryel Cardenas is the K-12 Education Program Assistant at the Pulitzer Center. Before joining the Pulitzer Center, she interned at Democracy Now!, a global nonprofit news organization. As an intern at Democracy Now!, Cardenas delivered workshops on Democracy Now!'s reporting to student groups in hopes of empowering students to engage with global issues. In the Spring of 2020, she graduated from Pace University with a B.A in Peace and Justice Studies and Political Science. Cardenas is passionate about immigration reform, indigenous rights, environmental justice, and amplifying the voices of underrepresented communities.
