Srishti Jaswal

Srishti Jaswal is an award-winning independent journalist based in India, after stints in New York, Paris, and Berlin. She has written on various subjects—including politics, tech, human rights, and governance—for The Caravan magazine, Newslaundry, Vice World News, Al Jazeera, and other national and international media outlets. She is currently working on her debut nonfiction book, Post at Your Own Risk, commissioned by Pan Macmillan.

She is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi. She has previously worked for the Hindustan Times. She also holds an honors degree in psychology from Panjab University.

In 2023, she was awarded the Ochberg Fellowship at Columbia University by the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma. Before that, she was awarded a fellowship by the International Center For Journalists (ICFJ) to advance her reportage on hunger in India. In 2021, she was awarded a grant by the National Foundation for India (NFI) to report on the agri-insurance sector. 

Prizes for her work include: the Lorenzo Natali Best Emerging Journalist award by the European Commission in 2021; the International Center For Journalists second Global Nutrition and Food Security Reporting prize in 2021; and the IFFCO IIMCAA award for excellence in Agriculture Reporting in 2022.

Her Pulitzer Center-supported project for The Caravan, Ritual Killings, investigates the nexus between tantrics and politics in India. Other notable projects include a three-part series on the aftermath of Article 370 abrogation; the drug epidemic in Himachal Pradesh, among others.
