A vendor shows a customer the prescription drug Cytotec at a pharmacy in the Kirikiri neighborhood of Lagos. Cytotec, a trade name for the drug misoprostal, is used at lower doses to induce labor and slow post-partum bleeding, but has been widely used for self-induced abortions in Nigeria. The ten pills needed to induce abortion were sold to the customer — without a prescription — for 1,100 Naira, about $7. Image by Allison Shelley. Nigeria, 2013.
