Please join the Pulitzer Center's K-12 Education team, the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at UW-Milwaukee, and the Center for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies at Vanderbilt University on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 6:00-7:00pm CDT for "Contemporary Topics in Latin America: A Workshop for Educators on Climate Migration with Journalist Abrahm Lustgarten." Lustgarten will describe his process reporting the story, "The Great Climate Migration" for The New York Times Magazine and ProPublica and highlight key findings from his reporting about the impact of climate change on migration to and from Latin America. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A.
Pulitzer Center K-12 Education staff will then moderate a brainstorm with participating educators about ways that students could make local, personal, and curricular connections to Lustgarten's reporting. Educators will also explore curricular resources developed by Pulitzer Center staff and Teacher Fellows that model methods for connecting Lustgarten's reporting to students.
