Linda Winslow

Linda Winslow was the Executive Producer of PBS NewsHour from 2005 to 2014. She had been the deputy executive producer of the program since it was created in 1983, when it was known as The MacNeil-Lehrer NewsHour. In the course of her career as an executive, she steered the NewsHour through a disruptive period for news entities in general and the NewsHour in particular. She successfully oversaw the transition to an award-winning multi-platform newsroom equipped to take advantage of new technology, for which she trained or recruited a staff of multi-skilled journalists. She also managed the selection and installation of the NewsHour's history-making all-female anchor team of Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff, when veteran anchor Jim Lehrer decided to retire.
A 1967 graduate of the Columbia University School of Journalism, Linda was in the first class taught by Fred Friendly, former President of CBS News. In the course of her career, Linda has produced coverage of every national political campaign and convention between 1972 and 2012, as well as assorted Presidential summit meetings at home and abroad, the war in Afghanistan, both wars in Iraq, and many other major news events of the last four decades. Linda serves on the board of the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and the Columbia Journalism School's Board of Visitors. She was awarded a Columbia University Alumni Medal for Distinguished Service in 2014 and received an Outstanding Alumni Award from the Journalism School in 2007.
