Jonathan Hettinger

Johnathan Hettinger is a journalist based in Livingston, Montana, just north of Yellowstone National Park.

Hettinger writes about the environment, from agriculture to mining, monarch butterflies to grizzly bears, for The Livingston Enterprise and the Midwest Center for Investigative Reporting.

Hettinger previously worked at The News-Gazette, where he was a reporter focusing on the Champaign and Urbana city governments and the University of Illinois. He covered everything from deaths in the local jail and police misconduct to the resignation of top UI officials and investigations into the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Hettinger graduated from the University of Illinois in May 2015, where he served as editor-in-chief of The Daily Illini. He also spent a summer working at the Chicago Tribune as a Dow Jones sports copy editing intern.
