The documentary shows portraits of young Belarusians who participated in the 2020 protests after the presidential elections.
Despite little support, President Alexander Lukashenko does not plan on stepping down. Quite the opposite, protesters were treated without any mercy. During protests, around 30,000 people were arrested. In detention, many of them were tortured — beaten, kept without food and water for days, and raped.
After the protests, court trials began. The sentences were harsh — including years of prison or penal colony. Thousands of Belarusians had no other choice. They had to flee their country. Article 293 of the penal code was quite often used in sentencing.
