SECTIONS
  1. List three things people worldwide are doing to mitigate the problem of air pollution. Do you think their ideas will work? Why or why not?
  2. Find on a world map three of the places described in these resources. How does urbanization factor into the current state of each place? Graph the size of each city compared with the level of its pollution.
  3. What is the level of air pollution in your community? What steps are local people taking to reduce this pollution? What can you do?
  4. Name a cause of air pollution in one of these stories that surprised you. What is its impact? What, if anything, is being done about it?
  5. What are some challenges to mitigating the air pollution problem?
  6. What are some of the biggest factors in increasing air pollution? How might the global trend toward urbanization be contributing to air pollution? (Look specifically at Esha Chhabra's story "Delhi: Selling Fresh Air in India's Most Polluted City.")
  7. What can history tell us about air pollution? Research the sources of different causes of air pollution both today and over the past 50 years. Have the causes changed? Are they different in different countries? How might each country take steps to reduce the type(s) of air pollution it faces?
