The fishermen of the Elmina community in Ghana spend most of the day at sea. They say there's no need to wear shoes because they “walk on the sea." In the morning they walk around town to warm their feet preparing for the long day of work ahead. Even with the warming, though, they still face harmful side effects such as flattened feet, wounds, and burning.
