Sylvia Varnham O’Regan

Sylvia Varnham O'Regan is a New Zealand journalist based in New York, specializing in investigative reporting. Her work has appeared in The Atlantic, Los Angeles Times, VICE, Toronto Star and more. In 2018, she completed a yearlong fellowship at Columbia Journalism School, working on a small team focused on business and environmental reporting. Previously, she worked as a digital and television reporter for SBS, Australia's award-winning multicultural broadcaster.

She has a Master's Degree in Politics and Global Affairs from Columbia Journalism School, and additional degrees in Law and Arts from The University of Auckland. She is a 2015 Asia Pacific Journalism Centre Fellow and recipient of Columbia's 2017 James A. Wechsler Memorial Award for best reporting on a national issue.
