Katherine Russo

PULITZER CENTER ALUM

Katherine received her bachelor's degree in Government and English from The College of William and Mary in May 2012. She is currently a participant in the William and Mary DC Summer Institute New Media program, an accelerated academic course that explores the evolving concept of "new media," paired with a ten-week internship at a related DC institution.

Katherine accepted an internship at the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting to fulfill the internship component of the New Media Institute and to advance a media-based approach to international issues. With specific interest in conflict developing in the Middle East and the African continent, Katherine spent last summer interning for the non-profit Layalina Productions, Inc., researching and writing on current events unfolding in the greater Middle East. At the Pulitzer Center, Katherine hopes to expand her knowledge of new media in conjunction with global affairs and to promote reader activism, while developing a better understanding of foreign relations.
