In the beginning of 2014, Jin joined the Pulitzer Center team, first as a special project coordinator, supporting religion and environmental reporting projects with research and outreach. Among the many conferences and events she has managed since then, the International Conference on Ecological Civilization and Environmental Reporting at Yale Beijing Center is a significant one.
For the past two years, Jin has worked as the marketing and communication desk with Jeff Barrus, communication director of the Center. She focuses on online and offline marketing campaigns, marketing research, event planning, impact research, and graphic design. On the side, she manages the Pulitzer Center's Chinese social media accounts. Jin's passionate about using technology and design to promote the grantees' reporting and expand Pulitzer Center's outreach landscape, especially among minority communities.
Prior to coming to the U.S., Jin worked as a sports journalist in China. This provided her with a firsthand learning experience in sports and media. Jin covered a wide range of stories, from local youth events to national competitions. When she was a local newspaper reporter, her specialties were Chinese basketball, international soccer, and snooker.
Jin graduated from SUNY Cortland with a Master’s degree in international sports management. Her graduate dissertation focuses on planning and developing a mega-sports event legacy in local communities. Jin's bachelor's degree is in journalism from Tianjin University of Sport. In 2012, Jin had the opportunity to study in London and to work as an Olympics correspondent. Before coming to the Pulitzer Center, Jin worked with NBC Sports as a nation-wide marketing research analyst in New York.
Jin translated and designed the e-book Ecological Civilization, which includes discussions on Chinese traditional culture and religion and the current environmental crisis. Published in the summer of 2014, it is available on iBook, Kindle, and Atavist. Jin also designed and contributed to many other Pulitzer Center publications.
