The Role of Media and Social Media in Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls

Pulitzer Center Social Media Editor Caroline D'Angelo is part of a session on "The Role of Media and Social Media in Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls" on Monday, December 3 at The George Washington University's Jack Morton Auditorium. Caroline will discuss the Center's use of social media and its reporting on violence against women around the world, as well as her work in gender and water and sanitation.

Moderated by Frank Sesno, the Director of the School of Media and Public Affairs, the panel promises to be a lively discussion. Panelists include distinguished leaders and social media experts from the Pulitzer Center, Hollaback, Circle of 6 and the Half the Sky Movement. The panel co-hosts are The Global Women's Institute, The School of Media and Public Affairs, and The Institute for Public Diplomacy and Global Communication. The panelists will discuss the similarities and differences in how and why their organizations use social media, from apps to networks, from advocacy to journalism.

Gender issues, including violence against women, is a consistent content theme we pursue as part of our mantra to cover globally under-reported stories. In fact, this panel is actually the second time we will work with GW on gender issues.
