Pulitzer Center Executive Director Jon Sawyer speaks at the University of Virginia on January 26 at the 2013 National Journal Conference for Schools of Public Policy and Affairs. This year's theme is "Journalism That Impacts Policy." Sawyer kicks off the second day of conference events, leading a session on creating platforms that reach broad and diverse audiences.

Sawyer will share his thoughts on the impact journalism can make on public policy and social issues, while exploring ways to use traditional and new platforms to reach broad audiences. He will focus on the the Pulitzer Center's work as examples both in terms of issues raised and new platforms used, including the reporting, spoken word performances and iBook related to Voices of Haiti, data visualization components in the context of our reporting on cancer in the developing world, our social media ventures and our growing Campus Consortium network.

The goal of the National Journal Conference for Schools of Public Policy and Affairs (NJC) is to promote meaningful dialogue and exchange with the graduate student publication staffs of public policy and public affairs schools across the nation. The conference is endorsed by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA).
