Join Pulitzer Center-supported journalist and Harvard-trained lawyer Rebecca Hamilton for an inside look into historical and legal aspects of January 2011 referendum that created Africa's newest nation. The sessions offers an opportunity to learn more about the history of the Sudanese conflict and consider referendum's implications. Among the topics likely to be covered: the societal and legal issues that must be tackled such as human rights concerns, impact of the Sudan's division on marginalized groups especially in the North, citizenship and migration, state and constitution-building and the outstanding arrest warrant against President Omar al-Bashir.
