Pulitzer Center Executive Director Jon Sawyer and Contributing Editor Kem Knapp Sawyer visit six universities in Shanghai, Nanjing and Beijing while in China between May 5 and May 14. During their talks, titled "Telling the Untold Stories: Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting," they focus on the history of the Pulitzer Center and how the organization supports journalists worldwide to explore systemic crises and engage diverse audiences.

On Monday, May 5, they visit Shanghai Normal University for the first in the series of talks at the Chinese universities. Shanghai Normal University (SHNU) is one of three public universities located in Shanghai and is known for its research and teaching in the social sciences field.

In addition to SHNU, they visit Tongji University and Fudan University in Shanghai on Tuesday, May 6. The Tongji University talk runs from 9:30 am (Beijing time) to 10:30 am, followed by a Q&A session. The discussion is hosted by the College of Arts and Media of Tongji. Established in 1907 by the German government together with German physicians in Shanghai, Tongji is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in China. The College of Arts and Media was founded in 2001.

On Friday, May 9, they give talks at both Nanjing University and the Communication University of China in Nanjing. The morning talk is hosted by the School of Journalism and Communication at Nanjing University from 10:10 am to 11: 30 am. Dr. Ding Hegen, a journalism professor of the university, moderates the talk. Nanjing University, also called Nanking University, is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher learning in China. The evening talk starts at 6:30 pm at the Communication University of China in Nanjing, and is moderated by Dr. Jin Mengyu, the dean of Journalism and Communication School. A Q&A session follows.

The final visit for their trip is planned for Renmin University in Beijing on Wednesday, May 14, between 10 am and noon, followed by another Q&A session.
