Join the Pulitzer Center for a screening of "The Abominable Crime" at Forsyth Technical Community College.

Filmmaker Micah Fink and human rights lawyer Maurice Tomlinson, one of the documentary's main characters, will speak with the audience and answer questions. Fareed Mostoufi, Pulitzer Center senior education manager, will moderate the conversation.

"The Abominable Crime" gives voice to gay Jamaicans who are forced to flee their homeland. Tomlinson, a Jamaican human rights activist, is outed shortly after filing a lawsuit challenging his country's anti-sodomy law. After receiving a flood of death threats, he escapes to Canada, and then risks everything to return to continue his teaching and his activism. The film also follows Simone Edwards, a young lesbian single mother, who survives a brutal hate crime and faces a choice between hiding with her daughter in Jamaica or escaping to seek safety and asylum abroad.
