Between Borders: America’s Migrant Crisis follows the journey of young migrants from Honduras, as they flee violence and poverty in their home country and try to make it to the United States. But that journey is now harder and more dangerous than it’s ever been.
In 2014, more than 68,000 minors from Central America were caught trying to illegally enter the United States. As a result the United States has put pressure on Mexico to stop the young migrants from arriving in the first place, apprehending the kids along the southern border with Guatemala and sending them back home.
Journalists Brent and Craig Renaud are with these young migrants on their perilous journey north, and document a crackdown by Mexican immigration on their southern border. From illegally swimming across the Guatemala-Mexico border, to running from Mexican immigration officers at every turn, the Renaud brothers’ cameras are with these migrants every step of the way.
