Journalist Gregory Gilderman reports from Russia.

Russia is home to two devastating epidemics: HIV/AIDS and intravenous drug use.

Pulitzer Center grantees Gregory Gilderman and Misha Friedman visit St. Petersburg, the city with the highest prevalence of HIV in all of Russia.

There they talked to the people most affected by the crisis: recovering heroin addicts, mothers with HIV-positive children, former inmates of Russia's sprawling prison system, and sex workers.

Their multimedia project was published by The Daily Beast.
