Tips for Paul Salopek from George, a fifth grade student at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.

Before starting his seven-year walk around the world, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Paul Salopek visited classrooms in Chicago, Philadelphia, St. Louis and Washington, DC. Paul introduced his upcoming project to over 3,000 students, including lower school students at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia, who wrote him letters of thanks and encouragement. Read the letters at the Pulitzer Center's Pinterest page.

Paul's in-person visits launched our special Global Gateway initiative to connect students with Paul throughout the journey with online and classroom activities. Follow the project on Twitter at #EdenWalk, and contribute to the conversation by sharing a journey of your own or asking Paul a question.

National Geographic and the Knight Foundation are funding the Out of Eden Walk's fieldwork and journalism. The walk's educational mission is supported by the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. Find out more about the walk at outofedenwalk.com.
