Bringing together reporters and various media professionals, global health experts, representatives from NGOs, and volunteers who have experience with disaster relief, an international conference at Boston University is being held to explore more effective ways for these groups to collaborate after a catastrophe.
Different conference panels will examine how decisions to coordinate both news coverage and medical care are made right after a disaster strike, whether it be conflict, or an environmental disaster, and how to improve the response on the ground.
Bill Wheeler, a journalist with the Pulitzer Center, which is cosponsoring the conference with the College of Communication, the School of Public Health, and the BU Center for Global Health & Development (CGHD), will be partaking in the conference.
The conference is part of an expanded Campus Consortium partnership between BU and the Pulitzer Center.
