2009 Winning Pulitzer Gateway Essays featured in St. Louis Beacon

Beginning Monday, July 27, 2009, the St. Louis Beacon is featuring one student essay per day on its website starting with Parkway West High School rising junior Hope Bretscher's essay and commentary. Click here to view the student essays featured at the St. Louis Beacon.

During the Spring 2009 Women and Children in Crisis Global Gateway program in St. Louis, the Pulitzer Center and Civitas Associates hosted an essay contest for all participating classes. The winners were awarded certificates, cash prizes, leadership positions as 2009-2010 Pulitzer Ambassadors, and a trip to Washington, DC to learn more about engaging their peers, teachers and schools in the underreported international issues featured at the Pulitzer Gateway.
