Haitian on the border
Haitian on the border
Not long after the devastating earthquake hit Haiti, Stephanie Hanes and Stephen Sapienza traveled to the Dominican Republic, the country next door. The Dominican Republic has a large and often marginalized Haitian population. Many of the Haitian migrants work in sugarcane fields and face racism and exploitation every day. This segment was produced by Outer Voices. Support for Stephanie Hanes' reporting was provided by the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. This Outer Voices podcast series was made possible with the support of the Schulz Donor Advised Fund of Sonoma County.
